What is iSOKO?

iSOKO is a digital marketplace and business support platform created to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses. It allows sellers to list products or services online, buyers to browse and order, and traders to access up-to-date trade information, market prices, and logistics providers. Unlike many marketplaces, iSOKO also provides business management tools (like bookkeeping and currency convertor), and integration with trade associations to support long-term business growth.

Who can use iSOKO?
  1. Sellers: Small businesses, farmers, processors, artisans, or service providers who want to reach new customers.

  2. Buyers: Individuals looking for quality goods and services, retailers what to source products or raw materials from suppliers.

  3. Associations & Institutions: Trade associations, chambers of commerce, and NGOs who want to support their members with digital tools.

  4. Logistics & Service Providers: Transporters, banks, and trainers who want to connect with businesses.
In which countries is iSOKO currently available?

As of August 2025, iSOKO is live in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi, and is in the process of expanding to Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Mozambique. Users from other countries can still register, but some services (like logistics and trade info) may not yet be fully available.

Is iSOKO free to use ?

 Yes ✅. Registration, creating an account, and listing products are free. iSOKO is supported by development partners including Global Affairs Canada, Mastercard Foundation and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office . In the future, optional premium services (such as product promotion, advertisements, or advanced analytics) may have a small cost, but the core marketplace will remain free.

What makes iSOKO different from other online marketplaces?

iSOKO goes beyond buying and selling:

  1. Shares trade information, including market prices, regulations, and business opportunities updates.
  2. Offers business tools like bookkeeping, so entrepreneurs can manage sales, expenses, and stock.
  3. It provides verified logistics providers for safe deliveries.
  4. Works through trade associations, giving users trusted networks and collective bargaining power.
  5. Focuses on digital inclusion, especially for women, youth, and rural entrepreneurs.
How do I register an Account on iSOKO?
  1. Mobile App (Recommended) – Download the iSOKO app from Google Play. Open the app, click.

  2. Website – Visit https://isoko.twcc-tz.org/ and click Sign Up.

  3. Provide your name, phone number, email, country, and region.

  4. Create a secure password.

  5. Verify your phone/email with the code sent to you.

Your account will be ready to use immediately.

Can I register if I don't have business lisense ?

 Yes ✅. iSOKO welcomes both informal and formal businesses. If you don’t have a license, you can register as an individual seller. However, verified businesses (with licenses or association membership) may get a “Verified” badge to build buyer trust.

Can I use one Account for both buying and selling ?

 Yes. You don’t need two accounts. Simply create one account, and under your profile you can add products/services for selling, while also being able to browse and order items as a buyer.

What should I do if I forget my password?
  1. On the login page, click “Forgot Password.”

  2. Enter your registered phone number or email.

  3. You will receive a reset OTP code through email or SMS.

  4. Follow the instructions to set a new password.

If you don’t have access to your phone/email, contact iSOKO Support for assistant.

How do I list a my product or service on iSOKO ?
  1. Log in to your account.

  2. While on the mobile app click on plus button on button navigation or sell now link on top navigation on the website.

  3. Add product/service name.

  4. Write a detailed description (size, quality, packaging, etc.).
  5. Upload clear photos (good lighting, plain background recommended).

  6. Set your price and stock availability.

  7. Save and publish.

Your listing will appear on the marketplace immediately.

What types of products and services can I sell?

Examples include:

  1. Products: crops, vegetables, livestock, fish, textiles, cosmetics, processed food, furniture.

  2. Services: tailoring, training, consultancy, logistics, IT, catering.
Are there any restrictions on what I can sell?

Yes ❌. Prohibited items include:

  1. Illegal products (weapons, drugs, counterfeit goods).

  2. Items banned by your country (e.g., ivory, endangered species).

  3. Items that do not meet basic health/safety standards.

How can I improve the visibility of my products and services on iSOKO?
  1. Use high-quality images (showing packaging if possible).
  2. Put in a clear description of goods and services including benefits and size .
  3. Offer discounted prices for product or service.
  4. Keep your stock updated to avoid cancellations.
  5. Share your iSOKO profile and product links on social media and WhatsApp.

 

How do I search for products or services on iSOKO?
  1. Use the search bar to type the product or service name.

  2. Filter results by price or location.

  3. Browse categories like Agriculture, fisheries,real estate, clothing, cosmetics, automobile and Electronics.
How do I an order ?
  1. Select the product you want.

  2. Click on “Place Order.”

  3. View order details.

  4. Confirm the order.
  5. You’ll receive order details by SMS/email, and the seller will be notified.

 

Can I buy from seller in other countries?

Yes ✅. iSOKO supports cross-border trade and you can order for product from sellers in other countries.

While placing order from outside the country, please confirm with the seller on:

  1. Total delivery time and cost.

  2. Customs or import taxes that may apply.


 

How do I know if a seller is trustworthy?

 Look for:

  1. Verified seller badge (issued to registered businesses).
  2. Ratings and reviews from other buyers.
  3. Membership badge(issued by recognized institution like TWCC, KNCCI or UWEAL.

Should you have any concerns, please feel free to request payment upon delivery.

What should I do if I face an issue with my order?
  1. First, contact the seller via the contact information provided on the order page.
  2. If unresolved, contact iSOKO support through Home page > Contact us.
  3. Provide your order ID and details.
  4. The iSOKO team will help resolve disputes.
What happens after I place an order?
  1. The seller receives your order notification.

  2. The seller reviews and either approves or cancels.

  3. You’ll get SMS/email updates at every step.

  4. Seller will then contact the seller to finalize payment and delivery.
Can I cancel my order ?

You can cancel your order at no cost if it has not yet been dispatched by the seller.

To cancel:

  1. Go to Your Orders page.

  2. Select the order and click Cancel.

  3. The order status will be updated, and the seller will be notified.

How do I make payment for product and service on iSOKO ?

Currently, payments are made directly between buyers and sellers (mobile money, bank transfer, or cash).

iSOKO is working to add an integrated payment system so you can pay safely inside the app.

Can I pay using mobile money or bank transfer?

Yes . Mobile money (M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Tigo Pesa, MTN, etc.) and bank transfer are widely accepted. Sellers usually provide their preferred method of payment when communicating with customers.

 

How are products delivered to buyers?

 Sellers can choose to:

  1. Deliver themselves.

  2. Use one of iSOKO’s verified logistics partners (with set delivery times and costs).

  3. Arrange third-party couriers.
Can I choose my preferred logistics provider?

Yes . During placing orders, you will see available delivery options. Buyers can select their preferred logistics partner, if supported in their region.

How can I track my order delivery ?

For any update that is made on your order by the seller or logistic provider you will receive an email and SMS notification to notify you about the update.

At any time you can track your orders by visiting the order listing page.

If you have any questions about your order, contact the seller through contact information available on the order page

What happens if my delivery is delayed or lost?
  1. Contact the seller first through information on the order page.

  2. If the issue is with the logistics provider, use the provider contact on the logistic order page.

  3. If unresolved, file a complaint to iSOKO support. iSOKO will mediate between buyer, seller, and logistics provider.
